The Z2 double-neck from Starr Labs combines a ZTAR Z1 MIDI Guitar Controller with an electric guitar built to your specs. The body of the instrument is a strong, lightweight carbon-epoxy composite. The Ztar controller neck is also carbon-epoxy and the guitar neck is hard maple with a rosewood fingerboard. Two Seymour Duncan humbuckers are installed, although various pickup types and wiring configurations are available. A Roland compatible or other pickup driver may be installed for access to traditional guitar-synths and VG8 systems. The Ztar portion includes a 6-string by 24-fret fully polyphonic touch-sensitive neck, 6 pressure-sensing Trigger Bars (StringTriggers optional), 12 programmable Drum/Efx Pads, 4-way Joystick, two control pedal jacks, a top-mount programmable volume pot, and a Breath Controller. The updated software includes quick triggering, Sequencer controls, Toggle On/Off for looped samples, quick ProgramChange, as well as all of the existing zoning, mapping, tuning, triggering and MIDI EFX functions. The backlit LCD display/programmer is mounted into the side of the body where it is easily readable. The Z2 is only 16" across the lower bout and weighs only10 pounds, quite compact for a double-neck instrument. The Z2A custom-built to order starting at $5395.
