Zaxcom Presents New Products at the 2009 NAB Show

QRX100 Four-Channel Camera RF Audio System
At the 2009 NAB Show, Zaxcom will demonstrate a new technology concept, the QRX100 four-channel RF audio receiver. To take advantage of the capability of today's cameras that record four or more discrete audio channels, the QRX100 will receive four channels of audio from up to two Zaxcom stereo or mono digital transmitters. The QRX100 will then output these received audio channels as both analog and AES digital formats with audio quality that can only be matched by a hard-wire system. This unique interface will allow broadcasters to record all channels from four-channel ENG cameras quickly and easily. The QRX100 will double as a timecode receiver, with an optional video sync/ SMPTE timecode output and an optional integrated IFB transmitter. To replicate the capabilities of the QRX100, broadcasters would need to mount up to four receivers, a sync generator, and an IFB transmitter to the camera—a scenario with high cost, RF bandwidth, and power demands. Zaxcom's QRX100 is designed to eliminate these concerns while addressing a wide range of audio functions in a single, lightweight package.
TRX992 Wireless Recording System
Zaxcom's new environmentally friendly TRX992 is a professional wireless audio transceiver designed specifically for boom pole and sports applications. Within a single compact unit, the TRX992 performs the functions of an audio transmitter, monitor return receiver, backup recorder, and phantom power supply. The TRX992 is a 100 percent digital transmission system optimized for boom mic operators working on motion picture and television productions. The transceiver features patent-pending internal recording, which backs up all transmissions to guard against lost audio files. Users can record up to 24 hours of audio to a removable mini or microSD card using the TRX992. The system features a user-selectable power output—ranging from 10 mW to 100 mW. Audio dynamic range is 106 dB, making it sound like a hard-wired microphone, without any of the typical FM audio distortion problems. Operating from just a single, low-cost, VPX rechargeable battery system, the TRX992 provides an eco-friendly audio solution, holding roughly twice the energy of today's lithium packs and supporting over 500 recharges.
STA150 Stereo Adaptor
Zaxcom is introducing the STA150, a stereo adaptor that allows broadcasters to transform existing single-channel TRX900 and TRX900AA wireless transmitters into a two-channel transmitter. The STA150 plugs directly into any of Zaxcom's digital wireless transmitters to create an instant sound bag-to-camera link. With all connections mounted on the side of the unit, the STA150 is designed specifically for use in sound bags for on-the-go ease of use.
New Sunlight-Readable Screen for Deva Hard-Disk and Fusion Audio Recorders
Zaxcom's Deva and Fusion hard-disk audio recorders are now available with a brighter display screen for easier control in any environment. Featuring three times the luminance of existing Deva displays, the new screen will allow users to view and adjust all of the Deva's settings, such as scene, take, note, and roll number metadata, even in bright sunlight.
Mix-8 Mixing Control Panel
Zaxcom's Deva Mix-8 eight-fader mixing control panel integrates directly with the company's Emmy® Award-winning Deva and high-resolution Fusion audio recording systems to provide a more compact, mobile, and precise control panel for audio mixing. The Deva Mix-8 incorporates the familiarity of fader-based mixing controls into a control panel that's compact enough for over-the-shoulder use. All mixing functions and powering of the unit are supported through just a single cable connecting the Mix-8 to its host Deva or Fusion system.
