PRESS RELEASE
Etheridge Signature Guitar Auction for Charity
June 08, 2000
Advertisement Famous rocker Melissa Etheridge will donate her new 12-string guitar to a charity auction at HarmonyCentral Marketplace (marketplace.harmonycentral.com). Its the new Melissa Etheridge Signature SMT 12-string from Ovation's Adamas series, and it debuts later this summer. The SMT will list for around $2,300, and is the same model that Etheridge uses on stage and in the studio. The auction will run from June 9 through June 23, with a $1 opening bid and no reserve. Proceeds will benefit the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation and Paul Newmans Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Hole in the Wall is a nonprofit residential summer camp for children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, while Fidelco is New Englands only non-profit guide dog training center. "Were honored to host this fantastic auction," said Brian Hageman, HarmonyCentrals Director of Brokered Services. "The bidding starts at $1 with no reserve, so we expect a lot of people will get in on all of the action and help these great causes. Whoever wins will have not only a signed and valuable collectors item, but also a fantastic guitar months before anyone else. Anyone but Melissa, of course." The SMT is the Adamas first-ever signature instrument. Etheridge has been a proud user of their instruments since she was 14. "Were thrilled that Melissas giving us the chance to let the world know that our 12-string is her instrument of choice," said Kaman Music's Adamas product manager Rick Hall. "Her guitar playing is an integral part of her sound. Were proud of whatever part we play in contributing to that sound."
