McDSP Ships the MC2000 Multi-band Compressor

McDSP is shipping its newest product, the MC2000, a high-end multi-band compressor plug-in designed to emulate the sounds of vintage and modern compressors in two, three, and four band configurations.

McDSP's MC2000 plug-In for Digidesign's ProTools platform is based on the award winning CompressorBank plug-In. The MC2000 gives the user total control of all compression characteristics in a multi-band format. Modeled compressors include the LA2A, UREI 1176 LN (blackface), Neve 2254E/33609C, and dbx 165. Many of the two, three, and four band configurations can share the same DSP chip.

Common controls such as Output (make-up gain), Threshold, Compression (Ratio), Attack, and Release are provided. Nonstandard Knee and Bite controls allow unique and unprecedented articulation of compression characteristics. Multiple peak detection circuit types (pure peak detection, adaptive release, and auto attack/ release) provide flexibility only previously achieved by owning different compression units.

Steep 24 dB/oct crossover filters, taken from McDSP's award winning FilterBank plug-in, minimize signal leakage into adjacent bands.

The addition of simultaneous metering of band inputs/outputs, compression gains, and final output, crossover and compression curve displays, automation of every control, and the ability to recall it instantly with a single preset, make the MC2000 multi-band compressor a versatile plug-in.

The MC2000 can run on any MIX system DSP type (SRAM, DRAM, no RAM), and many configurations can share the same DSP chip.

McDSP plug-ins support all Digidesign plug-in formats; the TDM, AudioSuite (AS) and Real-time AudioSuite (RTAS) versions are bundled into one plug-In. The MC2000 plug-in is ProControl and HUI compliant and supports MIX and MIX-Plus systems.

The MC2000 multi-band compressor retails at $595.
