SoundEngine.com announced its latest title in its Sound Effect library: microcosm. "microcosm" is a collection of long (10-60 sec) evolving textures created using a combination of additive and granular synthesis. By using both additive and granulation synthesis they were able to really focus on creating evolving elements in the frequency and time domain – this allowed SoundEngune.com to explore changing harmonic structure and discrete granular properties simultaneously – the result of this exploration is textures that have the harmonic sweeps from additive and the distinct particulated sound from granulation synthesis. This collection was primarily created on Symbolic Sound's Kyma System. "microcosm" is available now at SoundEngine.com and has an MSRP of $59.95. It is currently available in WAV format. The WAV CDROM is in ISO-9660 format, offering compatibility for both Mac and PC owners, and samplers that import WAV files directly, like the K2600,the A5000, the ASR-X, and the Motif. These files are easily dragged and dropped into Cakewalk, Logic, and Cubase. More information, and demo MP3 songs can be found on the company's web site. Recent Sound Engineering headlines
